What is Pragyan Online Exam?

Pragyan is an online exam platform by Infinio Labs for coaching institutes, schools and colleges. It runs timed exams where the server owns the clock and every answer, recovers from connection drops without losing responses, supports flexible marking and gives students instant results, on a deployment dedicated to each institute.

No answer left behind

If the connection drops mid-exam, responses are kept on the device and delivered, with a server receipt, when it returns.

One clock everyone trusts

The server decides when an exam ends. A wrong device clock cannot give extra time or take it away.

Results the moment it ends

Scores are calculated once, from the saved answers, and are reproducible if you ever need to re-check.

Built for

  • Coaching institutes
  • Schools

Product tour

Watch a full exam, start to result

From publishing a test to a student submitting and an instant scorecard, including a connection drop.

Everything included

Features that match how institutes actually work

Server-timed sessions

Each student has one active attempt. Expiry and auto-submit are decided on the server, not in the browser.

Offline-safe answers

Queued answers survive a dropped connection and a retried submit never double-counts.

Question types & marking

MCQ, true/false, numeric, fill-in-the-blank, short answer, matching and essay, with negative and partial marking.

Question bank with math

Rich-text questions with formulas, import from DOCX and answer-locking once students have attempted.

Integrity telemetry

Tab switches, fullscreen exits, copy attempts and duplicate logins are logged for your invigilators to review.

Live sessions

Watch who is in the exam, spot heartbeat gaps and force-submit or regrant an attempt with a full record.

Results & scorecards

Instant results, PDF scorecards and per-exam analytics, with student codes for login instead of emails.

Dedicated deployment

Separate app, database, storage and domain per institute, on shared hosting, on-premise or in your region.

Deployment

Your exams, on your infrastructure

Every institute gets its own isolated deployment: separate app, database, storage and domain.

Managed cloud

We host and maintain your instance. Quick to start, ready for your first exam in days.

On-premise

Run on servers in your exam centre, so exams keep working on your own network.

Custom region

Keep student and exam data in the country or region your policy requires.

On-premise and custom-region deployments carry an additional charge that depends on the location and infrastructure involved. Tell us where you need it and we will quote.

Reliability

Built for the day a thousand students log in at once

Exam day is the one day software cannot fail. Pragyan treats the server as the source of truth and the browser as a convenience.

  • Answers are acknowledged with a server receipt
  • Retried submits replay the same result
  • Rate limits that count failures, not a whole school behind one IP

Authoring

Create tests in minutes, not evenings

Build papers from a reusable question bank, import from DOCX and choose a marking scheme that matches the exam you are simulating.

  • Negative marking and JEE-style partial credit
  • Formulas rendered cleanly for maths and science
  • Questions lock after attempts so old results never change

Oversight

Evidence for invigilators, not theatre

Browsers cannot be fully locked down, and we do not pretend they can. Pragyan records what happened and leaves the decision to your team.

  • Suspicious-attempt review with tab and fullscreen events
  • Concurrent-login detection
  • Append-only event ledger for dispute handling

Getting started

How it works

  1. 1

    Create your exam

Pick or import questions, set sections, timing and the marking scheme, then assign it to batches.

  2. 2

    Share instructions & logins

Students sign in with a student code and see clear instructions before they begin.

  3. 3

    Run it live

Monitor live sessions, handle exceptions and let the server close the exam on time.

  4. 4

    Publish results

Review scores, download scorecards and let students see their results.

Who it’s for

Made for institutes like yours

  • Coaching institutes

Run mock tests and test series for competitive exams with realistic marking.

  • Schools & colleges

Unit tests and semester exams with fast, reliable evaluation.

  • Institutes with data rules

Keep data on your own server, in your country or on your premises.

  • Centres with patchy internet

Exams that tolerate shared bandwidth and short outages.

Why Pragyan

What makes it different

  • Your own deployment

No shared database. Each institute is isolated with its own backups, domain and storage region.

  • Honest about security

Deterrence and telemetry you can review, not claims that a browser tab is unbreakable.

  • Boring where it counts

One PostgreSQL database, health and metrics endpoints and nightly backups, so operations stay simple.

  • Reproducible scoring

Scores can be recomputed from stored answers, so a result can always be explained.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is online exam software?

Online exam software lets institutes create, schedule and conduct tests over the internet. Students answer on a screen, the system times the exam, evaluates answers automatically and produces results, replacing paper papers and manual marking.

What happens if a student’s internet drops during the exam?

Pragyan keeps unsent answers on the device and delivers them when the connection returns. The server owns the timer, so the exam still ends on schedule, and every acknowledged answer has a server receipt.

Can the exam time be tampered with by changing the device clock?

No. The server calculates the exam’s end time when it starts, and that is the only clock that counts. The on-screen countdown is only a display that corrects itself using server time.

Does Pragyan support negative marking and partial credit?

Yes. You can set negative marking per question or exam and use rule-based partial credit, including JEE-style marking schemes, across question types such as MCQ, numeric, matching and short answer.

How does Pragyan handle cheating?

Pragyan logs integrity signals, such as tab switches, fullscreen exits, copy attempts and concurrent logins, into a reviewable record. We deliberately avoid claiming browser lockdown, so your invigilators decide what counts as misconduct.

Where is our data stored?

Each institute gets its own deployment with a separate database, object storage and domain. It can run on shared hosting, on your own premises or in a region you choose.

Can we use Pragyan for maths and science papers?

Yes. Questions support rich text and formulas, so equations render correctly for students and in printable question papers.

Can Pragyan run on-premise or in a specific region?

Yes. Pragyan can run on our managed cloud, on your own servers or in a custom region. On-premise and custom-region deployments carry an additional charge that depends on the location and infrastructure, and we quote it once we know where you need it.
