Frequently asked questions
What is an education ERP?
An education ERP, also called school or college management software, is one system for an institute’s administration: admissions, fees, attendance, timetables, exams, staff and payroll, all sharing the same student and staff data instead of separate tools and spreadsheets.
Does Ovigyan work for institutes with several branches?
Yes. Owners see and compare every branch, while branch managers, teachers and finance staff are limited to their assigned branches.
Which biometric attendance machines work with Ovigyan?
ZKTeco-compatible terminals, including eSSL, through the Ovigyan Connector, with fingerprint, card and face punches. Ask us about other makes.
What happens to attendance when the internet is down?
Nothing is lost. The Connector queues punches on a campus PC and sends them in signed batches when the link returns, and staff are emailed if a terminal goes silent.
How are fees and receipts handled?
Collect by cash, cheque, UPI or NEFT/RTGS, add fines and print a receipt. Payments go to the oldest dues first, overpayment is blocked, and refunds and adjustments are audited.
Does Ovigyan send SMS or WhatsApp alerts to parents and students?
Yes, fee reminders and absence alerts, through each institute’s own gateway account (Fast2SMS for SMS and WhatsApp today, any SMTP server for email). Every alert is off until the institute enables it.
Do students get their own login?
Yes. A separate student portal shows fees and receipts, attendance, timetable, results, library shelf and ID card.
Is there a mobile app?
Ovigyan is a web app that works in any modern browser, including on a phone. There is no native app today.
Is our student data safe?
Access is role-based and branch-scoped, every change is audit-logged, records are soft-deleted, and gateway passwords are encrypted. You can host on our cloud, your servers or a region you choose.

Can we import our existing data?
Yes. Branches, admission inquiries and exam scores import from CSV, with a preview and row-level errors before anything is saved.
Can Ovigyan be installed on our own servers or in a specific region?
Yes, on-premise or in a custom region, in addition to our managed cloud. These carry an additional charge based on location and infrastructure, quoted once we know where.
